Our Story
From humble beginnings to a Zagreb institution – a story of family, love and perfect pastries
In 1936, Stjepan Jakšić opened a small pastry shop on Zvonimirova Street in Zagreb. With little more than a handful of flour, eggs and family recipes inherited from his mother, he began crafting pastries that would enchant Zagreb.
Through wartime and post-war years, the pastry shop remained open – becoming an oasis of normalcy for residents of Zvonimirova. His kremšnita became legendary, and his šaumšnita became known throughout the city.
Today the third generation of the Jakšić family runs the shop with the same passion and dedication to the original recipes. Every day, early in the morning, dough is kneaded, cream is cooked and strudels are baked – just as Stjepan used to do.
Every pastry that leaves our kitchen must be one we would gladly eat ourselves.
We use only the freshest ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible.
Every recipe is based on originals from 1936, passed down from generation to generation.
We run the pastry shop like a family – with warmth, care and genuine concern for every guest.
